Remove Conditions on Permanent Residence

If you have a conditional green card through marriage, you must file an application to remove the conditional status so you can continue living in the U.S. as a permanent resident. You must file the application within 90 days before your status expires or you will lose your green card. In some cases, you may be able to apply after your status expires.

In order to have the conditions removed, you and your spouse must file the petition together and show that you have a bona fide marriage (or that you did not get married just for a green card). If you are now divorced, your spouse is deceased or you were the victim of abuse, you may be able to file the application on your own.
